Times, they are a Changin’

By Guest Writer Keith Johs

How the Telecom Industry in changing.

Thanks to the folks at Ignus for the invitation to write this article for their newsletter. I’ve been involved in Technology Sales and Telecom now for nearly a decade. That length of time is considered a short interval for most business models, but in the Telecom world it is, literally, an eon.

If you’re a business owner or manager, you probably only think about your Voice and Data services if they aren’t working properly, or you are moving? You’re not alone. The real problem then becomes, “Who do I call now?” and “What is the next step?”

Good question! With all the changes, not just to the industry, but also within some of the companies that you probably do business with, chances are pretty good the reps you worked with the last time, have either moved around in their company, or worse case, are no longer there anymore? Hence the title for this month’s article.

In just the past couple of years in the Fargo area, we have seen quite a few changes in the Telecommunications markets. There are better product choices, prices are certainly lower and more competitive all around, and as a business, the technology is getting to the point where, not only can the average person understand it and use it effectively, but you can actually afford it!! Although Fargo has a few smaller Telecom companies that offer a few twists on the services most business need and want, the competition has finally spurred the big boys (Qwest, AT&T, Verizon Bus. Etc) to get their “act” together and start offering affordable services for the 96% of businesses nationwide that don’t qualify as “big business”. You can now get high-speed Internet in many places, even south of I-94 at speeds up to 7mg. For less than $49 a month. Long Distance plans now include Unlimited Domestic (50 states) minutes for small monthly fees ($25). Features like Caller ID (which was available actually in the 30’s but never brought to market) 3 way Calling, Voice Mail, etc all now come included with packages at prices previously only reserved for just the line.

The long and short of it (and I know short is always better when you talk Telecom) is that if you, as a business owner or concerned party, haven’t looked at your options in the last 9-12 months, then you are probably leaving money on the table, and worse, could be taking advantage of that next level of service or product to help get your word out there, and more customers to through your doors.

The long and short of it (and I know short is always better when you talk Telecom) is that if you, as a business owner or concerned party, haven’t looked at your options in the last 9-12 months, then you are probably leaving money on the table, and worse, could be taking advantage of that next level of service or product to help get your word out there, and more customers through your doors. At Renodis, we are independent reps. We work with a variety of carriers, and our services to you, the customer, are 100% without charge or obligations. If you choose to go with a change in services through us, we walk with you through the whole process, handle any project management or coordination needs, and stay available to you after it’s completion to make sure you stay ahead of the changes and know your options. Looking is free, call your Ignus account manager and we can take a look at your service needs immediately.

You’ll be surprised at what you might be missing.
