Readily available software for Mac users at apple.com/downloads
Everybody knows that Macintosh users are the creative types. If you ever walk into a Starbucks or Caribou Coffee you see these 20-somethings in jeans doing some thing on their 17 Inch Titanium power books or 15 inch MacBooks jamming to Phish with their iPod touch-shuffle-video or what ever it is now sipping a double mocha latte with soy milk and no whip cream. They just have to be making some kind of website or music video.
Right?
Wrong. Although Macs are universally known as the creative workstation – there are thousands of “non creative” software applications designed to work on a Mac. These applications can range from personal finance tools to games to productivity tools to UNIX and open source software.
Where does one find a comprehensive list of freeshare, shareware and demo versions of software? Apple.com/downloads. If you venture out to apple.com/downloads you’ll be greeted by a wide range of software available to download. The central main regions prominently displays a featured download followed by three other featured downloads. There is also a “Just added” section devoted to new software. The side panels allow you to browse categories, view movie trailers, access Apple software such as iTunes, Safari and Widgets. You can also view the most popular downloads, most recent and staff picks.
So, next time you see someone with their iBook, iPods and jeans sipping lattes – remember – he might just be submitting memo reports.
